BGlobal Ventures, together with the international investment holding Raison, Astana Venture Club and Astana Hub, launched a series of educational workshops on venture investments in the regions. The first events were held in Atyrau and Aktau at the sites of regional hubs. Why there was a need for such educational meetings and how the audience responded - more in the material.
About the idea
According to Abay Absamet, CEO of BGlobal Ventures, there is a tendency in Kazakhstan that most investment activity is concentrated in Astana and Almaty, while the regions remain on the sidelines. This is partly due to the fact that regional entrepreneurs are not aware of venture capital and prefer more traditional investment instruments, such as the stock market or real estate.
“In order to create an information balance between the regions, we decided to conduct a series of educational programs, starting with Aktau and Atyrau. Our goal is to introduce the audience to venture capital, its opportunities and risks, as well as to provide theoretical knowledge and real cases,” explained Abay Absamet.
The first events generated great interest, with about 30 people gathered in each city, including potential and current investors, entrepreneurs, startup founders, and founders.
“Atyrau and Aktau were chosen for venture investment seminars due to their strategic location, developed infrastructure, and access to resources. These cities, located in the center of the oil and gas industry, have many companies interested in business diversification, which makes the topic of venture investments especially relevant,” explained Nurasyl Dzharbasov, founder and head of Astana Venture Club.
What did the speakers talk about?
During the workshops, the speakers covered all aspects of venture investment: they talked about the prospects for the development of this area in Kazakhstan, the current state of the market, new opportunities for investors, and acceptable risks. The co-founder of the Raison holding Andrey Berezina paid special attention to the last point.
