BGlobal Ventures LTD Signs UN Women's Empowerment Principles

BGlobal Ventures LTD has signed the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles

BGlobal Ventures LTD, a subsidiary of Qazaqstan Investment Corporation, has joined the UN global initiative, the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) - the company has been successfully registered on the WEPs global platform.

These principles were developed by UN Women and the UN Global Compact in 2010 and are a guide for businesses and the corporate sector. The document contains recommendations for promoting gender equality and empowering women in three areas: in the workplace within the company; in working with the consumer market; in the community through the implementation of social projects and interaction with the civil sector.

“At BGlobal Ventures, we strive to create a work environment where women and men have equal opportunities for professional development. Today, the ratio of women to men in the company is 50% to 50%, with the same proportion at the management level. At the same time, we have launched a special scholarship program that provides an opportunity for female startup founders to study for free on our educational course on venture investment "VC Bootcamp". We believe that the knowledge they gain will help them better understand the process of attracting investment and successfully close deals.

We are proud to have joined the UN global initiative - the Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs), which underlines our long-term commitment to creating an inclusive environment where women can fully realize their potential and achieve success," said Abay Absamet, CEO of the private company BGlobal Ventures.

"Now another company from Kazakhstan, working in the field of venture investments, has appeared on the global list of WEPs. “It is gratifying to see the growing representation of Kazakhstani businesses committed to the principles of women’s empowerment,” said Dina Amrisheva, Acting Head of UN Women Office in Kazakhstan.

BGlobal Ventures is a private company, a subsidiary of Qazaqstan Investment Corporation JSC, and is engaged in the development of the venture capital market in Kazakhstan and Central Eurasia. Signing the WEPs is a public demonstration of the company’s interest and active position in promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment. Today, about 10,000 companies in the world have signed the WEPs, 53 of which operate in Kazakhstan. In 2024, Kazakhstan ranked 28th among 146 countries in the world in terms of economic participation and opportunities in the country’s Global Gender Gap Index.
